This was more prevalent before Uprising, where you got a "X% whatever per level" on pretty much all the equipment skills, for example.
Unlocks are nice and all, but skills are ultimately more rewarding (and seem less pointless in interim levels) when they confer some sort of bonus on the user for levels/mastery. Even fitting bonuses are "something", but many skills don't even give that. It also makes the "skill" and SP spent still valuable even if you've not using the PRO level gear and such (because the lower stuff is easier to fit or whatever).
Anyhow, this isn't complicated idea I don't think, since it's present on many skills already and many had bonuses prior to uprising. Just throw some bonuses on the rest of them. |

Even something simple like "reduces cpu cost" would work well for these things.
And don't even get me started about dropsuit upgrades level 5. Literally the most pointless skill in the game.
Dropsuit command tops out at 3, right? You get medium, light, and heavy by that point... |

If I had to guess, I'd assume it's like the secondary weapon skills. They made them individual to the weapons with the thinking that they could be customized to suit the weapons. However, they put that actual process on the backburner/to-do list.
I figure they decided they were going to change/rebalance those skills (maybe to things that aren't fitting related since a lot of the uprising changes focused on squeezing players on fitting) and didn't get around to adding the replacement skills. |
